Established in the 1970's, the Ransom Oaks subdivision is like no other in Western New York.  It was created with community spirit in mind.  The complex is located in the Northeast corner of the Town of Amherst.  It is bounded by Transit Road to the east, Dodge Road to the South, New Road to the West  and Dann Road to the North.

The community is made up of single family homes and townhouses.  There are 4 community pools, recreation buildings, several playgrounds and tennis courts.  These amenities are maintained by the Ransom Oaks Homeowners Association.  Residents in the subdivision are required to pay an annual fee for the upkeep of these amenities.  This area belongs to the Williamsville public school system--specifically, Dodge Elementary, Casey Middle and Williamsville North High schools.  These schools consistently rank among the best in WNY.

Ransom Oaks is made up of several winding neighborhood streets with sidewalks.  Many of the streets have cul de sacs in them.  All utilities are underground to preserve the open atmosphere of the development.  In the center of the subdivision is the Glen Oak public golf course.  Many of the homes are along the golf course or have a beautiful view of it.
